The Queen of Wands represents the watery part of Fire — its fluidity and colour. Her crown is topped with the winged globe and rayed with flame. Her long, red-golden hair flows down upon her armour of scaled mail. She is seated upon a throne of flame, ordered into geometric light by her material power. Beneath the throne, the surging flames are steady.
- The Wand with the Cone of Bacchus: In her left hand she bears a wand topped with a cone, suggestive of the mysteries of Bacchus — the ecstatic, intoxicating dimension of Fire that seeks expression through passion, fertility, and creative rapture.
- The Couchant Leopard: At her side rests a leopard upon whose head she lays her hand. The leopard represents the wild, predatory aspect of Fire — powerful and dangerous, yet here it is calm and obedient, tamed by her authority without being broken.
- The Armour of Scaled Mail: Unlike the Knight's armour of pure flame, the Queen wears scales — suggesting the watery quality within Fire. She contains and channels the flame rather than being consumed by it.
- The Throne of Geometric Flame: The flames beneath her are not chaotic but ordered into geometric patterns, representing her capacity to give structure and sustained direction to the raw creative energy of Fire.
- Her Expression: Her face expresses the ecstasy of one whose mind is well in-drawn to the mystery borne beneath her bosom — she is inwardly absorbed, connected to the deep source of her power.

The Queen of Wands represents the watery part of Fire — its fluidity and colour. She rules in the Zodiac from the 20th degree of Pisces to the 20th degree of Aries. In the Tetragrammaton, the Queens correspond to the letter Heh — they are the complements of the Knights. They receive, ferment, and transmit the original Energy of their Knight. Quick to receive that Energy, they are also fitted to endure for the period of their function, but they are not the final product. They represent the second stage in the process of creation, whose fourth and last state is material realization. They are represented as seated upon thrones, emphasizing that they are appointed to exercise definite functions.
The characteristics of the Queen are adaptability, persistent energy, and calm authority, which she knows how to use to enhance her attractiveness. She is kindly and generous, but impatient of opposition. She has immense capacity for friendship and for love, but always on her own initiative.
There is as much pride in this card as in the Knight, but it lacks the spontaneous nobility which excuses that error. It is not true pride but self-complacent vanity and even snobbery. The other side of her character is that she may have a tendency to brood, come to a wrong decision thereon, and react with great savagery. She may be easily deceived; then she is likely to show herself stupid, obstinate, and tyrannical.
In the Yi King, the watery part of Fire is represented by the 17th hexagram, Sui (Following). It indicates reflection upon impulse, and the consequently even flow of action. There is great capacity for lucid conception and steady prosecution of work, but this is only at the bidding and under the guidance of some creative mind.

The Queen of Wands embodies the archetype of the Anima as Creative Muse — the feminine principle within the psyche that receives raw creative impulse and gives it form, direction, and sustained life.
Where the Knight is pure undifferentiated drive, the Queen represents the psyche's capacity to contain that drive without extinguishing it. She is the internal figure who takes a flash of inspiration and holds it long enough for it to become a project, a relationship, or a work of art. In Jungian terms, she mediates between the unconscious (the source of Fire) and the conscious Ego (which needs structure to act). Her throne of geometric flame is the perfect image of this function — wild energy given intelligible form.
Her shadow is revealing: the tendency to brood and then react with savagery maps to what Jung called a negative Anima possession — when the mediating feminine function becomes contaminated by resentment or wounded pride, the entire emotional life turns toxic. The individual becomes simultaneously needy and tyrannical, craving the creative connection but sabotaging it through suspicion and control. The "easily deceived" quality points to the danger of projecting the Anima outward — mistaking another person for the source of one's own creative vitality, and then reacting with fury when that person inevitably fails to fulfil the projection.
As the Watery part of Fire and the first Heh of the Tetragrammaton in the Wands suit, the Queen represents the receptive principle within the element of will and creativity. Water within Fire is the capacity of passion to feel, to flow, to adapt — it is what prevents the fiery impulse from being merely mechanical. In Jungian terms, she is the feeling function operating within the domain of intuition and will: the capacity to sense whether a creative impulse is worth pursuing, to feel the emotional resonance of an idea before committing to it. Her throne — flames ordered into geometric light — is the image of feeling disciplined by purpose.
Her zodiacal range — 20° Pisces to 20° Aries — gives her a profoundly liminal character. She straddles the end of the zodiacal year (Pisces, dissolution, the return to the oceanic unconscious) and its fiery rebirth (Aries, the initial explosive impulse). Psychologically, this means the Queen inhabits the threshold between endings and beginnings — she is the psychic function that holds the space while one creative cycle dies and the next is born. The Piscean influence gives her the depth, empathy, and visionary capacity that the purely Arian Knight lacks; but it also gives her the tendency to brood, to lose herself in feeling, to confuse her own emotional states with objective reality. The Yi King's hexagram Sui (Following) confirms this: her power is great, but it requires direction from a creative mind — she is the vessel, not the source.
The Queen of Wands in psychological work signals a moment when creative energy is available and can be sustained — but only if the individual can resist the temptation to control or possess it.
