The number Seven (Netzach) has its customary enfeebling effect, and this is made worse by the influence of Saturn in Taurus. The atmosphere of the card is that of Blight.
- The Rubeus Arrangement: The disks are arranged in the shape of the geomantic figure Rubeus — the most ugly and menacing of the Sixteen figures. Rubeus appeared also in the Five of Cups; here it is even more devastating because it afflicts the most material element.
- The Blighted Vegetation: On the background, which represents vegetation and cultivation, everything is spoiled. The four colours of Netzach appear but they are blotched with angry indigo and reddish orange.
- The Leaden Disks of Saturn: The disks themselves are the leaden disks of Saturn. They suggest bad money — currency that has lost its value, resources that have become worthless.

The Seven of Disks is called Failure. Saturn in Taurus: the heaviest, most restricting planet operating through the most fixed and stubborn sign. The result is not dramatic destruction but blight — the slow, suffocating failure that rots things from within.
The disks have become leaden — the living, whirling energy of the Ace has been crushed by the weight of Saturn into dead, heavy, worthless material. "They suggest bad money" — resources that were once valuable have been debased by mismanagement, neglect, or the simple passage of time.

The Seven of Disks represents the archetype of Material Failure — the psychological experience of watching one's practical efforts produce not success but decay, not harvest but blight. Unlike the dramatic crises of the Fives, the Seven's failure is slow, silent, and organic: things simply rot, wither, and lose their value over time.
In Jungian terms, this is the experience of the sensation function confronting the inevitable entropy of the material world. Everything that was built decays; everything that was earned depreciates; everything that was planted can be blighted. The leaden disks of Saturn represent psychic energy that has become heavy, depressed, and worthless — the creative vitality that once animated the individual's material life has been crushed by the weight of routine, disappointment, and the sheer inertia of matter.
As the Netzach (Victory) card of the Disks suit, the Seven represents Earth in the sphere of Venus — desire meeting material reality and finding it wanting. In Jungian terms, Netzach in Earth is the experience of material disappointment: the individual who desired a specific material outcome (wealth, health, security) and finds instead that reality has failed to deliver. The geomantic figure Rubeus (the most evil of the sixteen) indicates that the failure is not merely unfortunate but ominous — it suggests a fundamental misalignment between the individual's desires and the actual conditions of their life.
Saturn in Taurus is Saturn operating through the sign he finds most congenial — the most fixed, most stable, most material sign. But this "congeniality" is precisely the problem: Saturn's natural tendency to restrict, limit, and solidify is amplified by Taurus' own stubbornness and resistance to change. In Jungian terms, this produces the experience of being trapped by one's own material circumstances: the individual whose possessions, obligations, and established patterns have become a prison from which they cannot escape because every exit requires the very energy that the prison has drained.
The Seven of Disks in psychological work signals a period of material stagnation, disappointment, and the need to honestly assess whether the current practical approach is producing results — or merely consuming resources.
