The influence of Binah in the sphere of Earth shows the material establishment of the idea of the Universe — the determination of its basic form.
- The Pyramid Viewed from Above: The card represents a pyramid viewed from above the apex. This is the most stable of all geometric solids — the first three-dimensional structure, the materialization of understanding.
- The Three Wheels at the Base: The base is formed by three wheels: Mercury, Sulphur, and Salt (Sattvas, Rajas, and Tamas; Aleph, Shin, and Mem; Air, Fire, and Water — the three Mother letters). These are the three fundamental forces whose interaction generates all material reality.
- The Solidified Sea of Binah: The pyramid is situated in the great Sea of Binah, in the Night of Time — but the sea is solidified, shown in cold, thin, dark grey with a pattern of indigo and green. The reddish tint of the sides shows the influence of Mars.

The Three of Disks is called Work. It is ruled by Mars in Capricorn — he is exalted in that Sign, and therefore at his best. His energy is constructive, like that of the builder or engineer.
Something has definitely been done. The crystallization of forces that Binah represents has here produced its material result: the pyramid — the first and most enduring of all human constructions, the establishment of primal energy in solid, geometric form.

The Three of Disks represents the archetype of Constructive Labour — the moment when the dynamic change of the Two is channelled into the first definitive material structure. Something has been built. The pyramid — viewed from above its apex — is the most stable solid in nature, and its appearance in this card signals that the creative energy of Earth has found its form.
In Jungian terms, the Three of Disks is the sensation function encountering Binah (the Great Mother, Understanding) and producing the first material work: the physical object, the completed project, the tangible result of sustained effort. The pyramid is the perfect symbol because it demonstrates that genuine understanding (Binah) manifests in the material world as structure — not theoretical knowledge but built knowledge, knowledge you can touch.
As the Binah (Understanding) card of the Disks suit, the Three represents Earth encountering the formative feminine principle. In Jungian terms, Binah in Earth is the experience of understanding expressed through matter: the craftsman who understands wood by working with it, the builder who understands stone by shaping it, the gardener who understands soil by planting in it. The three wheels at the pyramid's base (Mercury, Sulphur, Salt — the three alchemical principles) show that this material understanding integrates all three fundamental modes of experience: thought (Mercury/Air), will (Sulphur/Fire), and feeling (Salt/Water).
Mars in Capricorn is Mars exalted — the most disciplined, focused, and productively aggressive configuration possible. In Jungian terms, this is the aggressive instinct operating at its constructive peak: not the destruction of Mars in Scorpio or the impulsive attack of Mars in Aries, but the builder's fierce, sustained, purposeful energy directed toward creating something that will endure. Capricorn provides the structure and the ambition; Mars provides the force and the determination. Together they produce the archetype of the master builder — the individual whose work is not merely competent but excellent, because it is driven by an exalted energy that demands nothing less than the best.
The Three of Disks in psychological work signals a period of productive, satisfying labour — the time to build, to create, to make something real and lasting through the disciplined application of skill and effort.
